Tasmania

Starting a business is no small feat, but when the vision is fueled by passion and a commitment to serve your community, it becomes a mission worth sharing. At Tasmania Vaccine Solutions, our story begins with a simple yet powerful idea: keeping Tasmania’s workplaces healthy and thriving through convenient, community-focused flu vaccination services.
This blog post shares the journey of Tasmania Vaccine Solutions and why choosing a local provider can make all the difference for your business.

The Moment That Sparked Tasmania Vaccine Solutions
The idea for Tasmania Vaccine Solutions came to me in a moment that perfectly illustrates why having a local provider matters. I was taking my dog to the vet, and during a casual chat, the vet asked what I did for work. When I mentioned that I provided flu vaccinations, he immediately asked if I could come in and vaccinate their staff.
I said yes, but I explained that I’d need to speak to the mainland office in Sydney to coordinate the booking. The head office would then need to reach out to the vet to confirm, and after their discussions, Sydney would finally relay the decision back to me. The whole process seemed overly complicated for something that could have been organised on the spot.
That interaction highlighted a gap in Tasmania’s healthcare landscape: the need for a local, accessible service that could respond quickly and flexibly without unnecessary bureaucracy. It was then I realized I could do things differently, and that’s how Tasmania Vaccine Solutions was born.

A Mission to Keep Tasmania Healthy
At Tasmania Vaccine Solutions, our mission goes beyond administering flu vaccines. We aim to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible for businesses. We understand that coordinating workplace vaccinations can be challenging and that finding a provider who can come on-site and handle everything seamlessly isn’t always easy.
Our goal is simple: to provide accessible, expert vaccination services that prioritise convenience, care, and community. By bringing vaccinations directly to workplaces, we save businesses time, minimise disruptions, and help create healthier, more productive teams.

A Career Rooted in Primary Care and Community
Throughout my nursing career, I’ve always been drawn to roles where I can make a direct impact on the health of my community. Most recently, I’ve been part of the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, where I was one of the original nurses involved in establishing the program. It’s been incredible to see how much this service was needed and to watch it evolve into a vital part of our healthcare system.
Working in urgent care has reaffirmed my passion for primary care. Being on the front lines of community health has shown me the importance of providing accessible and timely services, and it’s what inspired me to start my own business focused on preventative care.

A Global and Diverse Healthcare Journey
My career as a nurse has been a rich and diverse journey, taking me across the globe and exposing me to a wide range of challenges and experiences.
In Darwin and Alice Springs, I provided care in remote and challenging environments, treating crocodile and snake bites and managing weird and wonderful tropical diseases. These roles required quick thinking, adaptability, and a deep understanding of unique healthcare challenges.
In Cambodia, I established clinics in garment factories, improving healthcare access for workers. This initiative gave me a firsthand understanding of how preventative care can transform lives and communities.
In Vietnam, I worked on chronic disease awareness in rural areas, providing education and support to communities with limited healthcare access.
While working on cruise ships in the Caribbean, I was part of a dedicated team responsible for managing medical care and emergencies for 4,000 guests and 2,000 crew members. However, it was the primary care aspect that I found most rewarding—particularly organising large-scale vaccination clinics for crew members from diverse backgrounds. This role demanded exceptional strategic planning, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
During the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia, I led teams that coordinated vaccination efforts across aged care facilities, the disability sector, and mass clinics. I’m proud to have contributed to ensuring life-saving vaccines reached vulnerable populations.
